Used Golf Clubs are NOT Used-Up!

Just because something is used, does not mean it is useless. Look at used golf clubs, for example. Just because clubs may have gotten some use by another player does not make them outdated, unwanted, or used up. In fact, if you purchase used golf clubs from a site, store, garage sale, or friend, chances are you will receive premium clubs at a fraction of their original cost.

Before You Buy
If you are seriously considering purchasing used golf clubs, there are certain things you should look for before you buy.

1). The Club Heads
Make sure the club heads do not have a shiny worn spot in the center. This means the club has been used for a long time. If that is the case, this clubface will not hold the ball as well as one that is not as worn. Also, stay away from clubs that show grooves or nicks in the clubface.

2). The Grip
Before you buy your golf clubs, check the grip. If there are splits or cracks in the grip, do not purchase. If you do, you will have to re-grip your clubs and that will cost more money.

3). The Shafts
As with the other parts of the club, check the graphite shaft to make sure that there are no worn areas. Also, test the torque by twisting the grip and head in opposite directions. You want to make sure that there is good resistance.

For steel shafts, ensure that the shaft has not been bent back into shape. You do this by simply looking down the shaft and making sure it is perfectly straight.

4). Check the Prices
Research is key to almost any large purchase, and you should look at your golf clubs as an investment. So, before you buy used golf clubs, make sure you are getting a good deal by checking the prices of new models. Sometimes stores may set their price for used golf clubs higher than new golf clubs. You just never know.

5). Swing ‘Em!
Don’t be afraid to test out the used golf clubs in the store. Practice your swing. Hit a couple of balls outside the store. If a salesperson won’t let you, walk away. Perhaps there is a reason the staff is tentative to let you test-model their products.

Used golf clubs are a great option for golfers on a budget, new players, or weekend warriors. Why spend tons of money when you can get the same clubs for less?
So, whether you are in the market for complete sets, individual irons, or even club accessories, many stores have exactly what you are looking for at prices that are very reasonable.
